Installing the GPS1000
The GPS1000 gps time antenna should be installed securely in place (in a suitable location) before connecting to the MC Series master clock using the supplied cable. The unit should be secured in position using the four 4.5mm case fixing points using fixings (not supplied) that are suitable for the application. Alternatively, the GPS1000 may be fixed in position using the additional post mounting kit (not supplied).
Recommended installation locations:
To achieve the most reliable operation:
- The GPS1000 should be installed on the roof of a building, laying flat with a clear unobstructed view of the sky.
Where installation on a roof is not practical, one of the following alternative locations should be used:
- The GPS1000 can be mounted flat to the side of a building facing the equator, and facing the horizon with a partial view of the sky.
- The GPS1000 can be mounted internally looking out of an unobstructed window. The window should be on the side of the building facing the equator. Ensure that the window is not coated with metallised film, as this may disrupt GPS signals.
