Setting the GPS4000 cable delay compensation

To ensure high accuracy timing at the connected master clock, the GPS4000 timing antenna incorporates user programmable cable delay compensation. This significantly reduces the effect of cable propagation delays on system timing.

When installing the system, the installer should set the cable delay compensation switch banks for both the input (antenna) and output (master clock) cables so as to match the actual cable lengths installed. Switches set to ‘ON’ are summed to indicate the total cable length.

Cable delay compensation example:

For example, to set a length of 15 metres for the antenna cable, and 50 metres for the output cable, the following should be programmed:
