Build Your MC500

Please answer the following quick questions to configure your MC500.

1. What is the distance between where you will mount the external GPS antenna and where the antenna cable will enter the building?

Your MC500 will be supplied with a GPS/GNSS antenna. This antenna needs to be installed with a clear view of the sky. Your MC500 will also be supplied with a remote GNSS decoder. This is normally installed in a roof void, inside the building, but close to the antenna.

A coaxial cable connects the antenna to the decoder. Thinking only about the section of this cable that would be outside your building, what would the length of this cable need to be?

2. What is the distance between where the antenna cable will enter the building and where you will position the remote GNSS decoder?

Your MC500 will be supplied with a remote GNSS decoder. This is normally installed in a roof void, inside the building, but close to the external antenna.

A coaxial cable connects the antenna to the decoder. Thinking only about the section of this cable that would be inside your building, what would the length of this cable need to be?

3. Will the antenna be installed in a location where it may be subjected to a lightning strike?

For reliable operation, we recommend installing the GNSS antenna outside, with a clear view of the sky. For most installations, this would normally be on the roof of your building.

Based on where you intend installing the antenna, is it possible that the antenna could be subjected to a direct lightning strike?

4. Would you like to add a second GNSS antenna?

Your MC500 can be supplied with a dual-redundant GNSS antenna. This would be used as a live backup in case of a failure of the main GNSS antenna. Is this option of interest to you?
